This book They Both Die at the End by: Adam Silvera sparked a need to share how amazing it is. Everyone can thank them for bringing me out of the leave of absence on here.

Mateo and Rufus both received a call from Death-Cast shortly after midnight, telling them that they are going to die today. They don’t know each other yet but they are about to meet on an app that was created to bring those who hate living their last day, have someone else too. The Last Friend app has a bit of stigma around it for giving access to vulnerable and high risk friendships that may or may not be the cause of your death in the first place. Who wouldn’t want to take that chance on their last day?

In They Both Die at the End, we know what’s going to happen at the end right? In theory we do but Silvera takes us on an adventure to get there and then delivers the most beautiful ending that we could ask for. Anyone wanting a feeling good story with a touch of realism still in there, this is the book for you. A story about accepting ourselves as is and forgiving everything that’s been sucky about our lives? This is it. LGBTQ main characters that are still navigating how to come out to their loved ones before it’s too late? This is it. What I’m getting at here people is that this book is one to add to the list because it has a little bit of everything for anyone looking for their next read.

I thoroughly enjoyed the different points of view that Silvera gives us in the story of Mateo and Rufus because everything ties to everything else. The chapters are separated by the points of view and sometimes they overlapped just to share the connection of everything. There are layers to this story that shows the effort that Silvera put into it to make sure that everything makes sense.

The only thing that I wish was a little different was the timing of the ending. I wanted it to be different and yet I loved it all the same. It seems like the way it should end given some of the other things that happened too though. I’m a bit torn. Read the book and let me know because I promise you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. I can’t wait to hear from you! All in all, I wholeheartedly believe that this book is worth the hype.
